The Tri4Paul fundraiser has officially begun. Thank you to our Corporate Sponsors who have donated the funds to cover the IRONMAN entry fee and pool rental. I look forward to reaching our 2010 goal of $5000.00. Thank you to all who helped in the past and to those of you who are considering helping in the future. Let the training begin!

2008 Louisville Ironman race

First off I would like to thank all who helped with this years fundraiser, we could not have done what we did without you. I am truly humbled by the outpouring of donations and help. God Bless all of you.

Unfortunatley the Ironman on my end did not go as planned. A week before the race I picked up what I thought was a chest cold. As race day got closer my symptoms progressed and I was experiencing exhaustion, muscle cramps and coughing.

I tried my best to keep up my spirits and rested as much as possible prior to race day. To make a long story as short as possible on race day I made the swim and got 60 mile into the bike. I was experiencing symptoms at the 60 mile mark that were completey different that I had experienced during the bike a year prior at the Great Floridian.

I knew something was wrong so I pulled off the track and rested. I made a decision not to continue which was to say the least heart breaking. The following day I went to my doctor and she sent me to the hospital for x-rays, It was found there that I had pneumonia. I feel fortunate to have made it as far as I did and have since recovered after a six week rest.

Since I left Louisville with unfinished buisness it means that I must return to finish what I started. After some discussion with my family it was decided that I would do some shorter distance races in 2009 and take a break from the training involved to participate in an Ironman.

2010 will be my return year so I will do my best to keep everyone updated on 2009 races and my prep for 2010. I may even have two more guys joining me for their first Ironman race ever. This will keep me and them busy this next year preping for that.

I hope all of you keep in touch and I hope you will continue to spread the word about what we are doing to help keep our fellow Public Saety Divers safe. As always donations can be made on our How You Can Help page.

Again God Bless everyone and thank you for your help!

Sincerely

Jerry

Back from Colorado

tri4paul Posted by tri4paul at 09:41 AM on June 09, 2008 Comments comments (0)

Just got back from Colorado yesterday 06/08/08. It was a long week, I was teaching a swiftwater I&II class in Ft Collins Colorado. The river was up higher than usual and there were even a couple of recreational rafters killed. It added alot of time to the class because we spent the evenings after class looking for safe spots to train. I only got one 11 mile run in and it felt pretty good considering the altitude.

It is good to be back and I look forward to getting back to training today. Thank you again for all your support

Rough week

tri4paul Posted by tri4paul at 10:49 AM on March 06, 2008 Comments comments (0)

I have been out of town for 5 days in North Dakota teaching a ice diving operations class. I was very tired at the end of the day and there wasn't a gym at the hotel or nearby. I spent the day with my family when I got back and was back on shift the next morning. We dove at Just Add Water for vehicle recovery training. It was freezing cold and we didn't get back until after 2:30pm. We cleaned all the equipment and were pretty tired after that.

I didn't feel well when I got off shift yesterday and was very congested. I took another day off to recover so I am hoping to get a workout today 03//08.

Things are going great!

There has been alot happening both inside and outside of training. I am happy to say that we have raised $2000.00 to date! Thank you to everyone who has donated. On the training side I have been consistent and have still been training outside even though we have had some brutal weather. I am feeling good and will be pushing hard to build my core and strength this season, I feel this was one of my weaknesses last year.

Sincerely

Jerry

Freaky Cold Training!

Today was definately one of the coldest days I have trained! I had to clean the ice off my sunglasses 3 times during my run. It has started out to be a pretty good month with only a few missed training days. Last shift I had my first 13 miler this year, it felt good and has helped to set the momentum leading up to today. Now that my buisness is sold I will have more time to train and blog. I will be adding a new video to the blog page that I took today in the freaky cold weather. I hope you like it and hope to hear from some of you soon.

God Bless

Jerry
